ஆழுடைமை – Surrender of the Soul

ஏரார் இளங்கிளியே எங்கள் பெருந்துறைக்கோன்
சீரார் திருநாமம் தேர்ந்துரையாய் – ஆரூரன்
செம்பெருமான் வெண்மலரான் பாற்கடலான் செப்புவபோல்
எம்பெருமான் தேவர்பிரான் என்று. (1)

O young and pretty parrot! Brahma who is seated on a white lotus flower and Thirumal reclining in a sea of milk call our Lord of Perunthurai as Arooran and Semperuman. Likewise why don’t you call Him as ‘Emperuman’ and ‘Thevarpiraan’.

ஏதமிலா இன்சொல் மரகதமே ஏழ்பொழிற்கும்
நாதன்நமை ஆளுடையான் நாடுரையாய் – காதலவர்க்கு
அன்பாண்டு மீளா அருள்புரிவான் நாடென்றும்
தென்பாண்டி நாடே தெளி. (2)

O you the precious gem whose speech is blameless and sweet! Say about the country of our Lord who rules the seven worlds and who has enslaved us. He enslaves His devotees with mercy and offers them grace to avoid being born again. It is clear that South Pandy Naadu will always remain His land.

தாதாடு பூஞ்சோலைத் தத்தாய் நமையாளும்
மாதாடும் பாகத்தன் வாழ்பதிஎன் – கோதாட்டிப்
பத்தரெல்லாம் பார்மேற் சிவபுரம்போற் கொண்டாடும்
உத்தர கோசமங்கை யூர். (3)

O Parrot who lives in the garden full of pollen-laden flowers! If asked where is the city in which our Lord who is half women lives and rules us, then the answer is that it is Uththarakosa mangai which is celebrated as the abode of Siva on earth by all the devout worshippers.

செய்யவாய்ப் பைஞ்சிறகிற் செல்வீநம் சிந்தைசேர்
ஐயன் பெருந்துறையான் ஆறுரையாய் – தையலாய்
வான்வந்த சிந்தை மலங்கழுவ வந்திழியும்
ஆனந்தங் காண்உடையான் ஆறு. (4)

O Parrot with the red mouth and green wings! Tell the Name of the river that belongs to the Lord living in our heart who is also the Lord of Perunthurai. Oh woman! It is the ‘sublime bliss’ that comes from heaven that cleanses the ‘Malam’ of the mind (Aanavam, Kanmam, Maayai) is the name of our Lord’s river.

கிஞ்சுகவாய் அஞ்சுகமே கேடில் பெருந்துறைக்கோன்
மஞ்சன் மருவும் மலைபகராய் – நெஞ்சத்து
இருளகல வாள்வீசி இன்பமரும் முத்தி
அருளுமலை என்பதுகாண் ஆய்ந்து. (5)

O Parrot with a flower like beak! Tell us the name of the cloud tipped mountain that belongs to the blameless King of Perunthurai. That Mount is the one that removes the darkness of ignorance and confers the grace to attain bliss.

இப்பாடே வந்தியம்பு கூடுபுகல் என்கிளியே
ஒப்பாடாச் சீருடையான் ஊர்வதென்னே – எப்போதும்
தேன்புரையுஞ் சிந்தையராய்த் தெய்வப்பெண் ஏத்திசைப்ப
வான்புரவி யூரும் மகிழ்ந்து. (6)

My dear Parrot! Why do you get into the cage? Come this side and tell me, what mount does the peerless glorious one ride? While the celestial women sing to praise Him with a heart full of joy that is sweet like honey, He enjoys riding the sky.

கோற்றேன் மொழிக்கிள்ளாய் கோதில் பெருந்துறைக்கோன்
மாற்றாறை வெல்லும் படைபகராய் – ஏற்றார்
அழுக்கடையா நெஞ்சுருக மும்மலங்கள் பாயும்
கழுக்கடைகாண் கைக்கொள் படை. (7)

O Parrot whose words are sweet like honey that is taken from the branch of a tree! What is the army with which the flawless King of Perunthurai vanquishes His enemies? The weapon that cleanses and protects the soul from the three sins is the trident that He carries in His hand.

இன்பால் மொழிக்கிள்ளாய் எங்கள் பெருந்துறைக்கோன்
முன்பால் முழங்கும் முரசியம்பாய் – அன்பால்
பிறவிப் பகைகலங்கப் பேரின்பத்து ஓங்கும்
பருமிக்க நாதப் பறை. (8)

O Parrot whose words are sweet like milk! Tell me, what is the drum that sounds in front of our King of Perunthurai? Because of His mercy for all lives, He causes the cycle of birth to end and to attain bliss He uses the primodial sound ‘Natham’ as His drum.

ஆய மொழிக்கிள்ளாய் அள்ளூரும் அன்பர்பால்
மேய பெருந்துறையான் மெய்த்தார்என் – தீயவினை
நாளுமணு காவண்ணம் நாயேனை ஆளுடையான்
தாளிஅறு காம் உவந்த தார். (9)

O Parrot whose words are well researched! What is the garland worn by the King of Perunthurai who resides in the hearts of devotees that oozes with love? He has enslaved me, a dog like soul, so that evil does not reach me. He prefers a garland of ‘Thaali’ and ‘Aruhu’.

சோலைப் பசுங்கிளியே தூநீர்ப் பெருந்துறைக்கோன்
கோலம் பொலியுங் கொடிகூறாய் – சாலவும்
ஏதிலார் துண்ணென்ன மேல்விளங்கி ஏர்காட்டும்
கோதிலா ஏறாம் கொடி. (10)

O the green Parrot of the grove! Describe the splendour of the flag of the blemish less King of Perunthurai. It is that which His foes dread when it is shown above them. It is the flawless banner with the gleaming bull.
